In a bid to cushion the effects of the prevailing economic hardship in the country, the Federal House of Representatives Member representing Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency, Hon. Moshood Olanrewaju Oshun, has distributed food palliatives to religious leaders within his constituency.
Speaking through his aide, Hon. Oloruntoba Falusi, Hon. Oshun explained that the initiative was designed not only to provide immediate relief but also to reaffirm his commitment to the welfare of his constituents.
“This initiative is mainly for religious bodies and a demonstration that we have the interest of our people at heart. Beyond food distribution, the impact of Hon. Oshun can be seen across all 11 wards in the constituency – through borehole projects, streetlights, drainage, and other social amenities,” Falusi stated.
The event drew religious leaders from various denominations, including Christian and Muslim communities, who lauded the gesture as timely and commendable.
One of the beneficiaries, Prophetess Imisioluwa Holy Mary of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Ebute-Metta, expressed appreciation to Hon. Oshun for his consistent efforts in improving the lives of his constituents.
“This food palliative came at the right time. People are hungry, and we need those in authority to intervene before the situation gets out of hand. What Hon. Oshun is doing is exemplary, and I urge other leaders to emulate him”. She said.
Similarly, the General Secretary of the Council of Imams, Lagos Mainland, Imam Muh’d Moshood Rauf, praised the lawmaker for his proactive response to the economic realities facing the people.
“This initiative is laudable and will surely help cushion the hardship faced by our people. Hon. Oshun has been performing well, especially in welfare and education. I urge him and other leaders to also extend support to brilliant students whose parents cannot afford school fees”. Imam Rauf remarked.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Oshun, who also serves as the Chairman, House Committee on Financial Crimes, reaffirmed his dedication to delivering the dividends of democracy to his constituents.
“This is part of my promise during the electioneering period. I remain committed to ensuring that my people feel the impact of good governance through continuous support and developmental projects”. He said.
