In preparation for the much-anticipated Orekoya Alliance Tournament (OAT) Season 4, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), led by its Chairman, Mr. Owolabi Ibrahim, has embarked on a series of strategic courtesy visits to key stakeholders, sports investors, and policymakers within the Somolu–Bariga axis and across Lagos State.
As part of the engagement, the LOC paid visits to the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Lekan Fatodu, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Mr. Damilare Orimoloye. Discussions focused on advancing grassroots sports development, deepening youth participation, and sustaining the Orekoya Alliance Tournament as a catalyst for community impact through football.
Both Mr. Fatodu and Mr. Orimoloye commended the OAT initiative for its consistent excellence in promoting youth engagement, discipline, and sportsmanship, describing it as a model worthy of state-level recognition.
The LOC also met with the Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, and the Chairman of Bariga LCDA, Hon. Bukola Omope Adedeji, who both reaffirmed their commitment to supporting OAT Season 4. They promised full cooperation and encouragement to ensure the tournament remains a hallmark of unity, entertainment, and opportunity within their communities.
In addition, the committee held productive sessions with the Somolu and Bariga Legislative Councils, where councillors expressed strong support for the initiative. They lauded the foresight of Hon. Abiodun Abimbola Orekoya, the initiator of the Orekoya Alliance Tournament, for his dedication to youth empowerment and community development through sports.
The Orekoya Alliance Tournament continues to stand as one of Lagos State’s most celebrated grassroots football competitions — a platform that nurtures raw talent, promotes social cohesion, and contributes to the vibrant sporting culture of Somolu and Bariga.
