Residents of Ezeagu community in Enugu state in the Southern part of the of the country were left in shock and horror after a chilling discovery in the home of a man accused of ritual killings. Youths in the community uncovered multiple bodies, including that of a freshly buried pregnant woman, dumped inside a soakaway pit in the suspect’s compound.
The gruesome discovery was made when the suspect was caught with a 13-year-old child, whom he allegedly intended to use for rituals. Outraged by the heinous act, local youths stormed the man’s residence and forced open the pit, revealing the decomposing corpses of victims whose lives had been cut short.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrifying. “We couldn’t believe what we were seeing,” said one resident. “The stench was unbearable. There were bodies in various states of decay, and it was clear this has been going on for some time.”
In an outburst of rage and grief, the youths set the suspect’s house and cars ablaze, vowing never to allow such an atrocity to go unpunished in their community. “He doesn’t deserve to live among us,” said another youth leader. “This is pure evil.”
The police have since intervened, cordoning off the area and commencing investigations. They have assured residents that justice will be served.
As the community reels from the horrific discovery, many have called for a thorough probe to uncover the full extent of the suspect’s crimes and ensure that no accomplices go unpunished.
