The National Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ikeja, the state capital recently upheld the election of Somolu Federal House Representatives candidate, Hon. Barr. Ademorin Kuye of All Progressive Congress Party, declaring him as the authentic winner of the March 9, 2019, Somolu Federal House of Representatives election.
Candidate of the People Democratic Party, Hon. Seyi Olowu had in a petition, challenged the victory of Kuye at the poll.
Olowu while alleging that the election was marred with irregularities, over-voting and substantial non-compliance with the electoral act and guidelines, prayed the tribunal to nullify the election and order the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct a fresh exercise or declare him winner on the ground that he scored the majority of lawful votes cast during that exercise.
The Chairman of the tribunal dismissed Idowu’s petition for lack of merit and affirmed Kuye as the winner of that exercise.
Meanwhile, Hon. Barr. Ademorin Kuye has thanked the people of Somolu and others who by him for the unflinching supports he enjoyed during the trial to ensure justice is done.
“Victory for me is a victory for all the people of Somolu community and I assure you that with supports, we’ll both move Somolu to the next level”.
