In the spirit of compassion, generosity, and communal harmony that defines the holy month of Ramadan, Lagos socialite and renowned philanthropist, Dr Ridwanullahi Adewale Teluwo, a few days ago hosted an Annual Ramadan lecture, drawing hundreds of Muslim faithful from the Somolu community and its environs.
The event, themed “Expectations of Youths in today’s politics,” brought together Islamic clerics, community leaders, political associates, friends, and indigent residents for a series of spiritually enriching engagements and daily Iftar gatherings held at his Abiodun residence in Somolu, Lagos.
“You will all agree with me that Ramadan teaches us sacrifice, empathy, and compassion. Hosting our Muslim brothers and sisters during this holy month is a modest way of sharing in their spiritual journey and supporting those in need”. He stated.
Similarly, the Host of the Ramadan lecture, Hon. Alhaji Luqman Biodun Teluwo, in his remarks, emphasised the expectations of the youths in today’s politics, noting that the youths have key roles to play in the growth and development of the society, while he also talked about unity and the spirit of forgiveness amongst one another.
He continued. “We cannot rule out the involvement of the youths in today’s politics because they’re the leaders of tomorrow. They need to get involved, and they also have key roles to play in the growth and development of our society; hence, the need to become part of the system is very important”. He echoed.
The well-attended programme featured daily breaking of fast sessions, where a variety of meals and refreshments were provided to ensure comfort for fasting Muslims.
In addition, special food packs were distributed to widows, elderly residents, and less-privileged families, enabling them to observe the fasting period with dignity.
Beneficiaries and community leaders praised the Ijebu-born business magnate, noting that his consistent acts of generosity serve as a model for other well-meaning individuals in society. They reiterated that Ramadan is not only a period of fasting but also a season of reflection, charity, and service to humanity.
An Islamic cleric at the gathering offered special prayers for Dr Teluwo, seeking divine blessings of good health, long life, and continued success in his business and humanitarian endeavours.
Guests at the event remarked that beyond the lecture and feasting, the initiative significantly strengthened social bonds and fostered unity within the community, reflecting the true essence of Ramadan—love, sharing, and devotion.
