The Somolu 10th Legislative Council has successfully screened and confirmed the nominees presented by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, for appointment as Supervisory Councilors and Special Advisers of Somolu Local Government.
The screening exercise, held at the Legislative Chamber, was presided over by the Leader of the House, Hon. Oyeyiola Tunde James, who described the process as a constitutional responsibility of the Legislative Arm to ensure competence, integrity, and readiness for public service.
He emphasised that the positions are strategic to policy implementation, grassroots development, and effective service delivery, noting that the House thoroughly examined the qualifications, experience, and character of the nominees before confirming their appointments.
The legislators who played pivotal roles in the screening include the Deputy Leader, Hon. Ibrahim Tajudeen; Majority Leader, Hon. Raheem Afees; Chief Whip, Hon. Sinat Adelaja; Hon. Taiwo Odubanjo; Hon. Olubiyi Afolarin; and Hon. David Joseph Olugbenro.
The confirmed nominees are Hector Ayo Coker, Segun Niyi Abiodun, Kabiru Raji, Afees Raheem Morenikeji, Tayo Okutobu, Gbenga Ayodele, Ajagbe Rafiu, Kudirat Ayoola Ibrahim, Dabiri Omobolanle, Kola Muhammad, Koya Shodipe, Adekunle Ekiyemi, Adetutu Surakat, Ladi Omifare, Yomi Osunkoya, Yinka Adeniyi, and Sunday Adelaja.
During the session, members of the Legislative Council also appreciated the Immediate Past Chairman, Hon. Abdul Hameed Salawu Dullar, for laying a solid foundation and building a legacy that has strengthened governance in Somolu Local Government.
The Council further urged the newly affirmed Supervisors and Special Advisers to give their full support, loyalty, and cooperation to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, to ensure unity of purpose and accelerated development across the Local Government.
The event was witnessed by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Lateef Ashimi; the Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Ojomu; the Immediate Past Chairman, Hon. Abdul Hameed Salawu Dullar; and the Chairperson Emeritus, Mrs Mariam Salawu, alongside party leaders and stakeholders.
The Council expressed confidence that the new appointees will contribute meaningfully to governance and drive greater progress in Somolu Local Government.
