Excitement builds up as LSRA Chairman, fans, hail Skate Lagos 3.0 sponsors

Anticipation has continued to gather momentum among skate lovers, sports enthusiasts and stakeholders in Lagos State as preparations intensify for the forthcoming skating tournament, with many participants and supporters commending Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration and Sporty Lagos for supporting the growth of grassroots sports development.

The tournament, which is expected to attract talented skaters from different parts of the state and beyond, has already generated widespread excitement within the skating community as fans eagerly look forward to a thrilling and competitive event.

Speaking ahead of the competition, the Chairman of the Lagos State Roller Sports Association, Mr Philips Olatubosun  Oyede, described the sponsors’ intervention as timely and commendable, noting that skating as a sport has continued to gain popularity among youths despite limited support and inadequate sporting infrastructure.

According to some of the enthusiasts, the sponsorship would not only help in discovering young talents but also provide a platform for skaters to showcase their creativity, energy and competitive skills before a larger audience.

A skating coach also expressed satisfaction with the development, stating that the sponsors deserved appreciation for investing in a sport that positively engages youths and promotes healthy living. He added that many young skaters possess enormous potential capable of representing the country at international competitions if given the necessary encouragement and exposure.

Fans who also reacted to the development said the tournament would further strengthen unity and friendship among participants while creating entertainment for residents and lovers of extreme sports.
Some of the skaters disclosed that preparations were already in top gear, assuring spectators of exciting performances and high-level displays during the event.

Observers within the sports sector maintained that private sector involvement remains crucial to the advancement of grassroots sporting activities, stressing that more organisations and individuals should emulate the sponsor’s gesture.

They noted that consistent support for youth-oriented programmes would help reduce social vices and channel the energy of young people toward productive ventures.

Meanwhile, organisers of the tournament assured participants and fans that adequate arrangements had been put in place to ensure a successful and hitch-free competition.

They also promised that the event would feature entertaining side attractions, networking opportunities and prizes for outstanding performers.

Meanwhile, as the countdown to the tournament continues, excitement among skate fans and residents has remained high, with many predicting that the competition would further boost the popularity of skating culture in Lagos and inspire more youths to embrace the sport.
