…encourages Socecan Leadership on Collaborative Efforts
Chairman Ashimi has has assured the Somolu Chapter of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Art Practitioners (ANTP) of the Local Government’s full cooperation.
The assurance followed a plea from the association for support in areas like art and culture promotion, securing sponsorships, providing empowerment opportunities, and facilitating robust participation for their essential programs both within and outside the community.
The ANTP delegation was led by their President’s representative, the renowned Prince Adewale Tadenikaro Adeoye (Elesho), along with Governor Oladosun Abiodun, Somolu-Chairman Abdul-Lateef Olayiwola, and the structure’s first Chairman, Mr. Mukaila Kehinde. Also present were dignitaries like Chief Mrs. Iyabo Oloko, Alhaji Isiak Bolajoko, and Comrade Jimoh, who engaged the Chairman and the Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Hassan Ojomu, during the discussion. The delegation also commended the former Chairman, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu (Dullar), for his inclusive governance model.
Hon. Lateef Ashimi, in his address, lauded the practitioners for providing a source of relief and entertainment for the society across generations. He reiterated the Council’s commitment to offering necessary support and also urged all present to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) as a crucial step towards Nation-building. The call to action was backed by the 10th Leader of the Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Tunde James Oyeyiola and the Chief of Staff, Prince Sodiq Adeeso.
He also met with the leadership of the Somolu Central Carnival (SOCECAN), led by Alhaji Jamiu Sesan Mustapha. He encouraged them to expand their collaborative efforts beyond their base in Ward E – Okesuna Alase, and to work closely with the Council.
“Life is evolving faster than expected. As stakeholders, we should start grooming the young generation for future purposes to take on the baton of leadership for more greatness,” Chairman Ashimi stated. “Our administration is keen to keep initiating more developmental projects for the community’s transformation, and our open door policy is sacrosanct.”
