The ancient city of Ile-Ife has been thrown into mourning following the passage of one of its illustrious sons and community leaders, the Osi Balogun of Ile-Ife, Chief Stephen Akinola Asiyanbi Owojori, who peacefully joined his ancestors on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the age of 85.
Chief Owojori, a revered Honourary Chief in Ife, was widely known for his discipline, integrity, and commitment to communal values. His life of service and dedication to both family and society earned him respect across generations.
In a tribute, his son, Mr. Lekan Owojori, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Proficient Logistics Services, described his late father as a disciplinarian, yet a loving and caring parent who instilled strong values in his children.
“My father lived a fulfilled life. He was a principled man who believed in hard work, honesty, and steadfastness. Beyond being a father, he was a mentor who guided us on the path of discipline and respect for humanity,” Mr. Owojori said.
According to burial arrangements, Service of Song and Night of tribute will take place on Monday 29th September 2025 at The Event Center, Plot I Block B, Hakeem Balogun Street Off Cadbury Agidingbi Road, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos at 4:00 pm
On Thursday 2nd October 2025, lying-in-state/Wake-Keep will be held at Halleluyah Crescent, Omisakin Street, Parakin, Ile-Ife, Osun State at 5:00 pm.
Final Burial Ceremony will takes place on Friday 3rd of October 2025 at the Newborn Apostolic Church Missionary Headquarters at 62, Lokore Street, Ile-Ife, Osun State at 10:am. Meanwhile, the entertainment of guests will take place at Iyeru Event Hall, Parakin, Ile-Ife, Osun State.at 1:00pm
Until his passing, Chief Owojori was a custodian of tradition, a pillar of strength to his family, and a symbol of leadership to the Ife community. His wise counsel and contributions to community development will be greatly missed.
And ever since he joined his ancestors, relatives, friends, and well-wishers continue to pay glowing tributes to the departed High Chief.
Chief Stephen Akinola Asiyanbi Owojori is survived by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who are determined to uphold the legacy of honour, discipline, and service he left behind.
