Lagos LG Polls: Somolu APC sets Bajulaiye agog for Ashimi, Ojomu, Mayabikan

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Somolu Local Government stormed Ward F – Bajulaiye/Fola Agoro – in a colorful rally to unveil its candidates ahead of the July 12 local government elections. The event drew a massive turnout as Hon. Lateef Ashimi (Chairmanship), Hon. Taiwo Ojomu (Vice Chairmanship), and Hon. Oluwakemi Mayabikan (Councilorship) were officially presented to the enthusiastic crowd.

Hon. Williams Lawanson opened the rally with a solemn minute of silence in honor of the late Councilor, Hon. Lateef Mubi. He expressed confidence in the party’s ticket and urged loyalists to replicate that trust through total support.

Earlier, party elders had gathered at the residence of Baale Chief R. Yinusa to bless and endorse the candidates, signifying strong internal unity.

Hon. Oluwakemi Mayabikan was presented the APC flag by Apostle Peter Oyewusi, Chairman of the Somolu APC Apex Leaders. She received widespread endorsements from leaders and the grassroots. Chief Modupe Olufojude, Iyaloja General of Somolu, led market women in full solidarity, praising Mayabikan’s dedication to community development and women inclusion.

Executive Chairman Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ addressed the crowd, listing major projects executed under his administration—such as the Somolu LG Administrative Complex, Bashua Police Station, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu PHC, Somolu Fire Station, and several paved, solar-lit roads. His achievements were applauded by apex leader Hon. Ademola Olisa-Adefalujo.

Political figures present included Olorogun Gbolahan Bago-Stowe, Hon. Tunde Oladejo, Hon. Omotanwa Salawu, and Deacon Femi Taiwo. Hon. Abosede Ogunlaja led the Apex Women Leaders, while numerous members of the Somolu APC Campaign LOC lent their strong backing to the flag-off effort.

The Somolu Association of the Deaf and Mute earlier donated campaign souvenirs to the APC office in Shipeolu. In a further show of strength, former councilors paid a solidarity visit to Hon. Dullar, pledging full support for Hon. Ashimi, Hon. Ojomu, and all APC Councilorship candidates. Somolu APC marches into July 12 with unity, strength, and purpose.
