The former Senator representing Somolu Federal Constituency during the Third Republic and the chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief Senator Anthony Adefuye making a speech during a stage play performance in his honour ahead of his 80th Birthday anniversary by Lagos State Chapter of TAMPAN at the University of Lagos on Saturday 10th August, 2024.
The former Senator representing Somolu Federal Constituency during the Third Republic and the chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief Senator Anthony Adefuye said he gave glory to God for making it to 80 years despite being hypertensive right from the age of 27 years old.
The Olugbon of Lagos made this startling revelation while delivering his speech at the University of Lagos theatre hall where a stage play titled “Eni Iyi” was performed in his honour ahead of his 80th birthday anniversary billed for 14th of August, 2024.
He continued, “I want to give God the glory for giving me the grace of making it to 80 years. A lot of people did not go this far but I thank God for everything. I remember when I was just 27 years old, I noticed I wasn’t feeling well and I went to see a doctor where I was confirmed to be hypertensive since then, I have been placed on drugs till this moment. I don’t joke with my health. I’m telling you this so you can take a clue from my experience”.
“Anytime I wake up in the morning and I still feel sleepy, I will go back to bed and sleep. Every other activity will have to wait until I feel I’m okay. Having enough sleep is another thing one must take seriously. It is important you must sleep for at least 6 to 8 hours during the night. Health they say is wealth, when one system is not in good condition, it will not function as it should and that’s the beginning of ailment”.
“The good thing about this is that we now have well-equipped hospitals. Once you notice you’re not feeling fine, go to the hospital to confirm what could have gone wrong with your system. A lot of people meet their untimely death because they ignore the signs and sometimes, it will be too late to reverse the situation”.
“Although, I’m not a doctor but with my experience in life, you should be able to pick one or two lesson(s) from my epistle. Sometimes, it’s the same doctors that work in government hospitals that work in some of these private own hospitals but at least, you’ll still get the needed attention and be treated”. He advised.
Meanwhile, the Lagos Chapter of TAMPAN, however, presented the celebrant with a specially designed gift in appreciation of his unflinching support oftentimes meted on them anytime they knocked on his door.
In his response, he appreciated everyone present at the event while he admonished everyone to prioritize their health adding that he was able to reach the 80 years through the aid of drugs and not allow ignorance to muddle his sense of reasoning.
Present at the event include the top politicians, captains of Industries, academics, religious leaders, government functionaries, Nollywood celebrities and not leaving out students of the prestigious institution of learning, the University of Lagos.
