The Secretary to the local government of Sagamu local government council in Ogun State, Hon. (Prince) Kolawole Adegbayi Onalaja has bagged the 2022 Distinguished Fellow of Teaching Profession Award, from the Nigerian Union of Teachers {NUT} Sagamu branch.
The award is in recognition and appreciation of his remarkable contribution towards the development of the teaching profession and educational growth in the Sagamu local government area.
While receiving the award in Sagamu, Hon. (Prince) Kolawole Adegbayi Onalaja commended the organizers of the awards for finding him worthy of an award.
He said that the honour was a confirmation that people are appreciative of his little contribution to the growth of the education profession, both in his personal capacity and as the Secretary to the local government in Sagamu local government area, while reiterating that it will spur him to do more for the people.
He said: “I have a responsibility not to let down the good people of Sagamu as I will always strive to live up to their expectations as the Secretary to the local government of the area.”
While dedicating the award to the Governor of Ogun state, Prince Onalaja said: “I am dedicating this award to the almighty God and His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun, MFR, his dear wife, Her Excellency, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Olatokunbo Joseph Talabi, as well as the good people of Sagamu Local Government Area.
“I want to also appreciate the leadership of our great party, APC, the Executive Chairman of Sagamu local government, Ogbeni Jubril Afolabi Odulate; staff of Council, Legislature/Executive of Sagamu LGA for their continuous support and opportunity given me to serve as the SLG of the council.
Speaking earlier, in his address, the branch chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers {NUT} Sagamu branch, Comrade Soneye Idowu Olumuyiwa, commended the SLG, Sagamu local government, Hon. (Prince) Kolawole Adegbayi for his contribution to the teaching profession and educational growth in the area.
He further said the award was strictly based on merit and “your choice was arrived at after a rigorous selection process where the committee found the SLG worthy and deserving of the recognition among many others shortlisted.”
While calling on other stakeholders to assiduously support the education profession and educational growth in Sagamu local government for the development of the area, he said the government cannot do it all alone. Comrade Soneye appealed to good-spirited individuals to contribute their quota to the development of education, saying the efforts of the government need to be complemented.
He charged the award recipients to do their best to serve the people.
