The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, and the Leader of the Legislative Arm of the council, Hon. Tunde James Oyeyiola, have been honoured with leadership awards in recognition of their contributions to grassroots governance and public service.
Ashimi was named Best Chairman of the Year, while Oyeyiola received the Outstanding Legislative House Leader of the Year award at the 2026 Role Model Awards organised by Tripple Oyin Koncept.
The awards were presented on Sunday, July 5, 2026, where prominent personalities from the political, business, traditional, religious and community sectors gathered to celebrate individuals who have distinguished themselves in leadership and service.
According to the organisers, the awards were instituted to recognise public office holders and other Nigerians whose commitment to excellence, integrity and impactful service has contributed to societal development.
They noted that Ashimi’s administration has continued to attract commendation for implementing people-centred programmes and projects aimed at improving infrastructure, environmental sanitation, youth empowerment and social welfare across Somolu Local Government.
Oyeyiola was also praised for providing effective leadership in the legislative arm, promoting constructive engagement with the executive and supporting policies that have strengthened governance at the grassroots.
The event attracted captains of industry, political leaders, community development stakeholders, religious leaders, entrepreneurs and other guests, who applauded the recipients for their dedication to public service.
Guests described the recognition as a reflection of the confidence reposed in both leaders. They urged them to sustain the pace of development and responsive leadership for the benefit of residents.
