Somolu Central Mosque gets a facelift

The Somolu Central Mosque, one of the oldest and most prominent houses of worship in the community, has undergone a stunning transformation following a comprehensive renovation project that has transformed its structure, ambience, and overall worship experience.

The facelift, which has been warmly welcomed by Muslim faithful and community leaders, marks a significant milestone in efforts to preserve the mosque’s historical relevance while ensuring it meets modern standards of comfort and beauty.

According to one of the regular Muslim faithful who prays at the mosque, the project was undertaken to address years of structural wear and to give the mosque a befitting look befitting its status as a central place of worship in Somolu. The upgraded features include a redesigned exterior, freshly fixed, shining wall tiles and wrapped up with a touch of golden colour, improved ventilation, new lighting systems, and enhanced interior décor that aligns with contemporary Islamic architectural designs.

Regular worshippers expressed delight at the transformation, describing it as a symbolic step towards uplifting the spiritual atmosphere of the community. “This renovation brings beauty, serenity, and dignity to our mosque. It is a joyful development for all of us,” a community elder said.

The Chief Imam of the mosque, Sheikh Alhaji Bilyamoon Olanrawu Dabiri, also commended everyone who contributed financially and morally to the project, noting that the upgraded facility will not only improve worship but also inspire greater unity among members. He encouraged residents to continue supporting community-driven initiatives that strengthen the values of togetherness and faith.

The impressive makeover stands as a testament to the community’s commitment to preserving its heritage while embracing progress as the mosque reopens fully for daily prayers and religious gatherings. The renovated Somolu Central Mosque is now set to serve Muslim faithful for generations to come, wearing a new look that reflects pride, devotion, and collective effort.
