The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Lateef Ashimi, on Tuesday, 25th of February, attended the annual Ramadan lecture organised by the Somolu Muslim community, where he called on the Muslim community in Somolu to continue to uphold his administration in prayers and extend their unwavering support to ensure the successful delivery of his administration’s developmental agenda.
Hon. Ashimi made this appeal during the Annual Ramadan Iftar at the Somolu Central Mosque, with Muslim faithful, emphasising the importance of unity, faith, and collective responsibility in governance. According to him, sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere where leaders and the led work hand-in-hand with sincerity of purpose and shared commitment.
The council boss noted that governance is a continuous process that requires not only strategic planning and effective execution but also spiritual backing and moral encouragement from the people. He stressed that prayers remain a powerful tool in navigating the complexities of leadership and in achieving meaningful progress.
“We need your prayer and support. With your prayers, encouragement, and cooperation, we will be able to meet our targets when and where necessary. This administration is committed to delivering people-oriented projects and policies that will improve the standard of living of our residents”. Ashimi stated.
He further assured the Muslim community that his government remains focused on inclusive development, youth empowerment, infrastructural improvement, and social welfare initiatives that will benefit all residents of Somolu, irrespective of religious or political affiliation.
Hon. Ashimi also commended religious leaders for their continuous role in promoting peace, tolerance, and moral values within the community, describing the Muslim community as a vital partner in fostering harmony and stability in the local government area.
The chairman reiterated that his administration would continue to engage stakeholders, including religious bodies, community leaders, and youth groups, in order to strengthen collaboration and ensure transparency in governance.
However, members of the Muslim community present at the gathering expressed their appreciation for the chairman’s humility and openness, pledging their continued prayers and support for the success of his administration.
Over 8 millions of Naira was donated for the infrastructural development of the house of worship to give a befitting look and maintenance status.
