Somolu community was thrown into mourning on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, following the sudden death of Ms. Emem Patience Stephen, the manager of one of the area’s most popular hospitality spots, House 5 Bar and Restaurant.
According to reliable sources, the deceased was reported to have complained of severe chest pain in the early hours of the day. Concerned about her condition, she proceeded to a nearby pharmacy to purchase some medication.
Tragically, despite her attempt to seek relief, her condition reportedly worsened shortly after, leading to her untimely demise.
Eyewitnesses recounted the shock among neighbours, staff, and customers of the establishment upon receiving the news, describing the late manager as a “lively, dedicated, and hard-working” figure who was the heartbeat of House 5.
“She was more than a manager; she was a friend to many of us. She made this place feel like home,” one emotional customer told Somolu Newspaper.
As news of her passing spread, tributes poured in from sympertisers, colleagues, and members of the Somolu hospitality industry, many of whom praised her professionalism and warm personality.
While official medical confirmation of the cause of death has not been released, community members have been urged to prioritize regular health checks and promptly seek expert medical attention when feeling unwell.
Meanwhile, Candle Night was organised by friends, neighbours and customers in honour of the late manager whose love and friendliness will be missed so dearly by many.
However, her remain has been interred at the Atan Cemetery while friends and sympertisers prayed to God to forgive her misdeed and grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
