The founder and Publisher of Herosports Africa, Mr. Sheriff Owolabi Bada, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, on his election as the new President of the Boxing Federation of Nigeria (NBF)
Mr. Edun emerged victorious in the contested election after securing all 12 votes cast by the delegates, making it a unanimous endorsement of his leadership and commitment to the growth of Nigerian boxing.
In his congratulatory message, Mr. Bada described the new Boxing Federation President as “a passionate boxing enthusiast whose contributions to grassroots boxing cannot be overemphasized. He commended Mr. Edun for his consistent support for young athletes and his vision for repositioning boxing as a major sports in Nigeria”.
“Mr. Wale Edun’s emergence is a testament to his dedication to sports development, especially at the grassroots level,” Mr. Bada said. “His passion for boxing and his genuine interest in empowering young talents give us confidence that the future of Nigerian boxing is in capable hands.”
The Herosports Africa President further expressed optimism that Mr. Edun’s leadership would bring renewed vigour and strategic reforms to the federation, especially in areas of talent discovery, athlete welfare, and international representation.
Mr. Edun’s election has been widely applauded across the sports community, with many stakeholders noting that his extensive experience in administration and governance will provide the necessary structure and transparency to elevate Nigerian boxing to global prominence.
