The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, met with officials from the Somolu General Hospital to discuss strategies for improving healthcare services for residents.
During the meeting, Chairman Ashimi emphasised his administration’s commitment to providing accessible and high-quality healthcare. He called for a stronger partnership between the local government and the hospital to address pressing health issues and enhance community well-being.
“Our goal is to ensure that every resident of Somolu has access to the best possible medical care,” said Hon. Ashimi. “By working together, we can improve our facilities, streamline services, and implement health programmes that truly benefit our people.”
The General Hospital officials, led by Medical Director Dr. Mustapha Quadri, expressed their readiness to collaborate with the local government. They acknowledged the need for continued cooperation to meet the community’s healthcare needs. The discussion also covered plans for Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and future initiatives aimed at community health outreach, including the proposed ultra-modern facility by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
The meeting, which was also attended by the Leader of the House, Hon. Tunde James Oyeyiola, and the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Abidemi Agboola, marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the local healthcare system. It also underscores the Chairman’s dedication to the health and welfare of Somolu residents. Chairman Ashimi also commended the Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA) for its vital role in advocating for an improved healthcare system.
