The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. AbdulLateef Ashimi, on Monday paid a courtesy visit to Summer Coaching Classes in the heart of Somolu, where he encouraged students to stay dedicated to their studies and remain focused on their dreams and be morally upright.
The visit, which was part of the council chairman’s ongoing community engagement tour, provided an opportunity for Hon. Ashimi to interact directly with learners, teachers, and management of the educational centre.
Speaking during the visit, Ashimi commended the Coordinator of Summer Coaching Classes for their consistent efforts in nurturing young minds and preparing students for academic success.
He described education as “a priceless investment that shapes the destiny of individuals and communities,” stressing that the youth must take full advantage of available learning opportunities.
“Focusing on your study is the key to unlocking your potential. Distractions will always come, but with determination, discipline, and hard work, you can achieve your goals and become leaders in your chosen fields,” the chairman advised the students.
Hon. Ashimi also reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives in Somolu, noting that the local government had been investing in school infrastructure, free exercise books, and scholarship opportunities for deserving students.
In his remarks, the Director of the Summer Coaching Classes, Mr. Ismail Sodipo, expressed appreciation to the council chairman for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit.
He described the gesture as a morale booster for both students and staff, pledging that the centre would continue to uphold high teaching standards.
Some of the students who spoke with Somolu Newspaper after the visit described Ashimi’s words as “inspiring and motivating,” noting that they felt more determined to excel in their forthcoming examinations.
The visit ended with a brief tour of the classrooms, where the chairman interacted warmly with the learners and took group photographs to mark the occasion.
