In a gathering that showcased the vibrant spirit of unity and friendship, the naming ceremony of Comrade Siyaka Asuqu’s daughter drew top politicians, community leaders, and members of the Somolu chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) on Saturday 31st of May, 2025.
The event, held at the Asuqu’s family residence in the heart of Magodo, Lagos, turned into a celebration of tradition and togetherness. Attendees included political heavyweights, NYCN topshots, family, and well-wishers from within and outside the community.
The atmosphere was filled with joy as the baby, named Zainab Abosede Fiyinfoluwa Asuqu, was officially welcomed into the world with Islamic naming rites, prayers, and the presentation of gifts from family members and well-wishers.
In his remarks, Comr. Asuqu expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended. “This day marks another chapter for our family, and I’m grateful to have such strong support from the Somolu community and my NYCN colleagues”. He stated.
Guests enjoyed sumptuous meals, and enjoyed throughout the occasion, making it a memorable day for all present. The event reinforced the strong sense of community spirit that Somolu is known for.
Meanwhile, as the naming ceremony concluded, Comr. Asuqu’s home continued to buzz with laughter, cheer, and heartfelt congratulations, underscoring the importance of family and friendship in the lives of Somolu residents.
Among the prominent guests were the Executive Chairman of Somolu local government; Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’, the leader of the Legislative arms; Hon. Yomi Oshunkoya, the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG); Hon. Dele Samson Afolabi, the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Somolu Constituency II, Hon. Samuel Apata (Solution); Supervisor for Agric, Ojo LG; Hon. Hammod Jinadu, Dullar Ladies and a respected grassroots politician in Somolu.
