…Somolu residents to benefit from discounted food items at a special market event
In a bid to cushion the effects of rising food prices and economic hardship, the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu, popularly known as ‘Dullar,’ has facilitated a 50% subsidy on food commodities for the community’s residents.
This initiative is being organized in collaboration with Inspire Lagos and is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2025.
The one-day special market scheduled to take place at the new Somolu local government administrative complex will provide an opportunity for Somolu residents to purchase essential food items at half their regular prices.
The event is expected to feature a wide range of staple foods, including rice, beans, garri, vegetable oil, tomatoes, and other household necessities, all available at significantly reduced rates.
According to Hon. Salawu, the initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of the people by addressing food insecurity and supporting families struggling with the high cost of living.
“We understand the economic challenges facing many households, and this initiative is a direct response to alleviate the burden on our people. By partnering with Inspire Lagos, we aim to ensure that residents can access quality food items at affordable rates,” he stated.
The special food market will be hosted within the local government area, and the Organizers have assured that necessary measures will be put in place to ensure smooth operations, orderly distribution, and fairness in the sales process.
Residents of Somolu have expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that it will provide much-needed relief amid the current economic situation. Many have lauded Hon. Salawu’s administration for prioritizing the well-being of the people through impactful interventions.
With the event just days away, expectations are high as the local government finalizes arrangements to ensure a seamless and beneficial experience for all participants.
