In a bid to provide essential solutions to challenges outlined separately by the National Association of Peri-operative Nurses of Nigeria (NAPON – Lagos Chapter) and the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA – Somolu Chapter), the Executive Chairman Ashimi held crucial dialogues with the groups at the Somolu LG Secretariat.
During the meeting with the NAPON delegates, which included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Ojomu, the team’s Chairperson, Mrs. Malomo Dosunmu, first extended condolences for the late Councillor, Hon. Mayabikan. She then read out their concerns, which included a lack of funding for projects and programmes, and mobility issues. She added that their experienced members are crucial for operational procedures, providing thorough care for patients before, during, and after surgery.
Chairman Ashimi applauded their foremost contribution to nation-building. He also assured them of his support to help the association navigate its responsibilities, as is consistent with his open-door policy, and promised to make the upcoming nursing week memorable.
Afterward, the NATA members, led by the State Patron, Mr. Abel Ogunbanwo, and Chairman, Comrade John Adekunle, among others, called upon him to assist them with workshop availability, which included financial and moral support, as well as State Government intervention and addressing permit challenges.
In the presence of Deacon Femi Taiwo and Hon. Olalekan Otaiku, the Council Chairman revealed the LG has no intention of neglecting them, as they are a critical stakeholder who has always been supportive, even before the electioneering campaign.
He commended their decision to seek the Council’s support for the problems they face rather than resorting to illegal acts, which could trigger more woes. Both parties attested to the outstanding achievements of the Immediate Past Chairman, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, who contributed to the association’s growth.
He then urged all to also caution their members who often use the main road, which causes environmental hazards. He further promised to intervene in the cause of permit setbacks, reiterating his commitment towards engaging them in the Local Government programmes for additional benefits.
