The wife of the suspended Imam of the Oluwalogbon Mosque in the Somolu local government area of the state, Alhaja Oluwakemi Afolayan has revealed that her husband was bedridden for six years as a result of a spiritual attack with neither spiritual nor financial assistance from close associates and even Muslim community.
The woman who recently performed the holy pilgrimage to the city of Mecca alongside her husband narrated further how she had to carry her husband to the toilet, bathe, and clean him up on a daily basis just about three years into their marriage.
“The problem started in 2013 when he couldn’t walk as he used to and was bedridden until 2018 and all through the years, there was no single assistant from either friends or family. I went through hell taking care of him and at a time, I became a laughing stock in the neighbourhood”.
“Properties worth Millions of Naira were mortgaged to foot the hospital and some other bills incurred. Household items were not spared as I couldn’t go to work or go elsewhere because of his health condition. I was always with him to attend to his needs while reeling in serious and endless pains. I can’t stop imagining bathing and feeding a grown-up man like a baby”. She recounted.
“My husband and I hardly slept during those trying years. I cried my eyes out for many months because I really didn’t know what to do anymore or who to go to as frustration set in”.
“I remember one fateful day when he called me and addressed me emotionally saying his last wish that I should take good care of his daughter. I broke down and wept profusely because I knew he was at the point of death until the situation was salvaged by a man of God, Pastor Ayeni in the outskirts of Lagos”.
The woman stressed that she wouldn’t deny the fact that they went to church where her husband was eventually healed but the most important thing was that her husband was freed from the fang of death, their faith remained intact as Muslim faithful and would remain grateful to Almighty Allah for His favour and mercy.
Alhaja Afolayan, however, thanked those who stood by them during the alleged Anti-Islamic incident while praying to Allah to grant them good health and peace of mind at every point of their life.
