‘We need to redefine our political structure to produce topnotch leaders and followers’ – Hon. Bowale Sosimi

The former Vice-Chairman of Somolu local government and currently Commissioner 4, Lagos State Local Government Commission, Hon. Bowale Sosimi has called for a total overhauling of Somolu political structure that’ll bring about qualitative leadership and followership system that will move the community to the desired destination.

According to Hon. Bowale while fielding questions from Somolu News said that the leaders must identify the core value and not allow individual agenda to override the collective values noting that in as much as the leaders were being apportioned the blame for the rot, the followers must also be blamed.

He continued, “I’m a proponent of togetherness, let’s come together and fix whatever leadership challenges we have as a community. United we stand, divided we fall, don’t let us divide the house. We’ve come a long way and must do everything possible to remain one united family.

“Everybody must come to the roundtable with their views and opinions, duel on superior opinion and argument irrespective of the proponent. I mean, you should be able to convince me that if we do this, this is what we’ll be the result. For instance, if I’m going to Yaba and somebody said the road to Yaba has been blocked and somebody brings the opinion that I should go through Jibowu while the other comes up with the idea of going through Yabatech. That’s the kind of idea we’re talking about. We need to do away with sentiment if we must move forward”.

The vibrant and articulate politician, however, warned that leaders must stop the idea of allowing external influences to determine the way forward which he said was the bane of the Somolu political challenge stating that Somolu must put her destiny in her own hands, look inward and design the system that’ll produce vibrant leaders and followers.

“For instance, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu started as a Governor, he never stopped, he keeps building and rebuilding leaders and followers, and I can tell you that some of his contemporaries with whom they started back then in 1999 are no longer in the system and that shows you what the system entails”. He echoed.

Meanwhile, Hon. Bowale in his closing remarks poured encomium on the current leadership in the Somolu Federal constituency while he enjoined them to put the house in order and develop a vibrant, articulate leadership and followership system that’ll not only bring about good governance that’ll translate to socio-political and economic development but also put Somolu on the global map.
