Stakeholders converge, as Yaba College of Technology unveils N50b endowment fund logo

The college hall of Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos was yesterday filled to its capacity as academics, students, and business leaders converged at the unveiling ceremony N50 billion endowment funds logo which took place on Thursday 28th August 2022.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Chairman of the college endowment committee, Mr. Inyang-Udoh in his welcome address reiterated that improving the access to education and ensuring the quality of such education are the most important things that can be done for the present and future generations of a great country like Nigeria.


He went further, “In other words, building and sustaining a country’s quality and total education must be the starting point. And for education to be total and sustained with the prevailing realities, we need adequate funding”.”It’s no longer news to discerning people, especially the operators of education, that government in Nigeria and other parts of the world can no longer adequately fund education, particularly the tertiary institution”.

However, the Rector of the Yaba College of Technology, Engr. Femi Omokungbe said the time was ripe to have an endowment fund that will provide a consistent and permanent funding source to support students, departments, research, and programme for generations to come stating that the endowment fund was conceived out of the desire to address the challenges of infrastructural deficit, obsolete and non-functional equipment confronting the college.
“The unveiling of the logo is the first phase of the launching of the endowment fund. We want the world to know what we are doing through this platform. It’s our hope that you’ll all support us by honouring our invitation for the launching of the fifty-Billion Naira (N50Billion) endowment fund in September”.

“It’s important for us to continue to fulfill the mandates of the founding fathers and maintain the high standards we’re known for, and come round to work together in order to fulfill our vision”.

Meanwhile, the Rector in his closing remarks poured encomium on the endowment committee for working tirelessly since the beginning of the journey while he called on well-meaning Nigerians to support the course and partner with the College by investing in the endowment fund.
