The Bashua area of Somolu was besieged on Friday 10th November 2021 by residents, top government functionaries, religious leaders, politicians, artisans, health professionals, and traditional rulers as the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu commissioned a world-class Primary Health Care Center built by Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu led administration and was named after her Excellency in commemoration of his 100 days in office.

Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State officials who adorned in a grey-to-march attire were received by the council chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ and the Somolu All Progressive Congress (APC) political bigwigs in the community.
Speaking at the event, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ in his goodwill messages thanked His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for creating an enabling environment to establish more PHC’s to compliment other already established ones in Somolu local government.
He continued, “Even before assumption of office, he takes health care of the Lagosians as a priority with the establishment of BOSCO Medical Mission which has been the most important cardinal point of the THEME agenda. I say thank you to you Mr. Governor for laying a good foundation for us to build lasting legacies. May God bless our Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu”.
“Moreso, our mother has been front-liner in the health sector as she herself was the former Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Somolu General Hospital, we welcome you ma.”

“No doubt, our administration action speaks volumes just as our service remains indelible in the heart of our teeming populace in the cause of bringing development projects to Somolu local government “.
Furthermore, this administration has succeeded in constructing over 34 roads, sunk boreholes, and renovations of schools for greater tomorrow. Likewise, adequate welfare packages have also been provided for our technocrats as they are our engine room for effective service delivery”.
“Permit me to further say that your presence in our midst to commission our project will remain evergreen in the memory of all residents of Somolu and we’ll ever be grateful to you as we look forward to more of this in the future”.
The council chairman, in his closing remarks passionately implored the people of Somolu local government to ensure that the effort of His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the area of accessible good roads and health care delivery is not in vain and as well imbibe the habit of maintaining the projects and not use it as a marketplace or mechanic workshop.

“We should imbibe in the act of a healthy lifestyle by improving on personal hygiene and keep all our surrounding clean. Maintaining this project should be our primary assignment as it’s our property and all we expect from you in return is your loyalty as we enjoin you all to pay taxes”.
Meanwhile, in her welcome address, the First of Lagos state described the visitation as homecoming with much excitement to witness great development springing up in the Somolu community.
“I’m so excited and it is commendable that the facility which became dilapidated has been reconstructed to a full state-of-the-art health care provider to provide first-class primary health services to our people”.
“We cannot downplay the importance of this project having reconstructed good access roads to connect with newly built health care center to serve it purpose for which it was established”.

“I’ll make it bold to say that the unveiling of this project perfectly aligns with the THEME agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to revamp, rejuvenate and reposition the health care system for efficient service delivery to the citizenry”.
“The newly built health care center is well equipped with modernized imaging machines, diagnosis machines, family planning services, pharmacy, delivery rooms among others”.
“I want to say again that I sincerely appreciate the chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ and his amiable team for the decision to name this facility in my honour and I enjoined you to guard this health care center jealously.”
“Honesty, I’m really humble, I would have preferred not to be named after me but you have chosen to name it Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu Primary health care center. Thank you very much, sir, thank you very much, Somolu for this laudable initiative.
Present at the commissioning of the Primary Health Care Center were the Lagos State House of Assembly member, representing Somolu Constituency I, Hon. Olowo Rotimi Emmanuel, former Executive Secretary of Somolu local government and Commissioner I, Lagos State Local Government Commission; Hon. Biodun Orekoya, Leader of the House; Hon. Yomi Oshunkoya, Chairman of Somolu/Bariga Apex Leader, Pastor Peter Oyewusi, Hon. Ademola Adefalujo Olisa, Hon. F.O. Bakare, the Chairperson of Somolu local government; Hon. Mrs. Mariam Omotanwa Salau, Immediate Past LGA Chairman, Hon. Deacon Femi Taiwo and the wife of the Lagos House of Assembly member; Mrs. Atinuke Olowo Rotimi.
