The daughter of former Nigeria Tennis star, Thomson Onibokun, Seun Onibokun Oni is said to be in need of N25m to undergo cervical surgery abroad.
According to report, OLUWASEUN ONIBOKUN-ONI, a mother of three and an ex-banker was reported to be in active service when her ailment started in the year 2016 and due to the severity of it, she was advised to resign by her Doctors so as not to aggravate the ailment.
She was, however, later diagnosed with Cervical Spondylosis in October 2016 and since then, she had visited four different hospitals. Favoured Emmanuel Health Care, where she was diagnosed, referred her to OAU teaching Hospital, where Lumbar and Scoliosis were also discovered. She then went to the UCH hospital, Ibadan, where the treatment received there relieved her a bit from the Cervical but the Lumbar was something else in pain. She couldn’t sit for a long time and be then advised to seek surgical intervention abroad since there was no improvement in treating her condition conservatively.
To further seek redress, she then travelled to Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, India in July 2018. She was examined and the Neurosurgeon told her that the case was severe because of the Scoliosis involved but should continue with the conservative management where she started her physiotherapy. She was placed on medication and was asked to come back after four months but due to financial constraints, she couldn’t go back in December 2018.
Presently, she is unable to even perform the simplest task without pain. She experienced the burning sensation, frequent back of the head headaches and can’t feed herself. She finds it difficult to walk without support and spent most of her time now on a sofa because sitting straight or standing is almost impossible without serious stinging pains that results in being unable to walk.
She is tired of these and wants to be self-active again and not depending on people. Her husband, Olayinka One and her siblings are civil servants and her mum is a pensioner and they have tried their all possible best but it is now beyond them now.
Her children are feeling the vacuum as she can’t perform her role as a wife and mother while her dad, Thompson Onibokun was the late Nigerian Tennis Veteran and 1st General Manager, Osun State Sports Council when the state was created.
At this point, she is humbly requesting for Financial Assistance from well-meaning Nigerians to enable her to proceed with the surgical intervention needed abroad because the condition is affecting her mental state too as advised by medical experts that it is the best thing to travel to the United States of America for proper treatment which requires complete evaluation and followed by appropriate surgical therapy and likely duration of the treatment is three months.
