The unfortunate incident occurred at about 11:05hrs on Monday, 22nd June, 2026, at Eleko Junction.
According to preliminary reports, the crash involved an unidentified vehicle whose driver fled the scene immediately after the incident. Two persons were involved in the crash, comprising one male adult and one female adult. The female victim sadly lost her life, while the male adult escaped unhurt.
FRSC rescue operatives from Zebra 46 Ibeju-Lekki Unit Command responded promptly to the distress call, arriving at the crash scene within two minutes of notification. Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) also participated in the emergency response and traffic management activities.
The remains of the deceased were released to her relatives for burial arrangements.
Reacting to the incident, the Lagos State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, described the crash as unfortunate and condemned the act of fleeing the scene of a crash, noting that such actions are irresponsible and contrary to the principles of road safety and humanity.
He urged motorists to exercise caution, obey traffic regulations, maintain safe speeds, and always stop to render assistance or report to appropriate authorities whenever they are involved in or witness a crash.
The Sector Commander further appealed to members of the public with useful information regarding the unidentified vehicle involved in the crash to assist law enforcement agencies in their ongoing investigation.
