Double celebrations as Gafara set to mark one year in office, birthday anniversary

Residents of Okesuna-Alase Ward in Somolu Local Government Area of the state are set for a double celebration as the Councillor representing Ward E, Hon. Afeez Raheem (Gafara), prepares to commemorate his first anniversary in office alongside his birthday celebration with pupils of Oke Meta Primary School, Somolu, Lagos.

The event, scheduled to be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. on the premises of Oke Meta Primary School, is expected to bring together community leaders, party faithful, traditional rulers, residents, education stakeholders, and schoolchildren in a colourful gathering.

According to the organisers, the celebration is designed not only to mark Hon. Gafara’s one-year stewardship as the elected representative of Okesuna-Alase Ward E but also to appreciate the support and confidence reposed in him by the people since assuming office.

The Majority leader of the 10th Legislative Arm of the council is expected to use the occasion to reflect on his administration’s achievements over the past year, highlighting various developmental projects and people-oriented initiatives undertaken to improve the welfare of constituents. He is also expected to reaffirm his commitment to delivering more democratic dividends and strengthening grassroots development across the ward.

A major highlight of the programme will be the celebration with pupils of Oke Meta Primary School, an initiative aimed at promoting love, unity, and support for education while sharing the joy of the special occasion with the younger generation.

The event is expected to feature goodwill messages from political leaders, community stakeholders, and guests, alongside entertainment and other activities organised to make the day memorable for the children and attendees.

Residents have expressed enthusiasm over the planned celebration, describing it as another opportunity to foster stronger ties between elected representatives and the grassroots while celebrating a year of public service and personal milestones.

With preparations already in top gear, Oke Meta Primary School is expected to become the centre of attraction on Friday as friends, supporters, and well-wishers gather to honour Hon. Gafara’s first year in office and celebrate another year of his life in an atmosphere of gratitude and community spirit.
