In the spirit of love, sacrifice, and togetherness that defines the Eid-el-Adha celebration, the Special Adviser on Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government and Secretary of Ward E, Hon. Mrs Maryam Owolabi-Bada, recently hosted political leaders, party faithful, and residents of Ward E to a grand get-together party.
The colourful event, which attracted prominent stakeholders, community leaders, women’s groups, youths, and residents from across the ward, provided an avenue for merriment, networking, and the strengthening of relationships among members of the community.
Guests were treated to a lavish reception featuring assorted delicacies and refreshments as they joined the host in celebrating one of the most significant festivals in the Islamic calendar. Speaking to Somolu News during the gathering, Hon. Maryam Bada expressed profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting Muslims the opportunity to witness another Eid-el-Adha celebration in good health and prosperity. She noted that the event was organised to appreciate the unwavering support and commitment of political leaders and residents who continue to contribute to the growth and development of Ward E and Somolu Local Government.
She emphasised the importance of unity, peace, and mutual understanding among residents, stressing that sustainable development can only be achieved when communities work together towards common goals.
The Ward E Secretary also used the occasion to commend the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, for what she described as his exemplary leadership, visionary administration, and commitment to the welfare of the people.
According to her, the council chairman has continued to demonstrate uncommon dedication to grassroots development through impactful policies and programmes aimed at improving the living standards of residents across the local government.
“Hon. Lateef Ashimi has shown remarkable leadership qualities since assuming office. His people-oriented initiatives, commitment to inclusive governance, and passion for community development have continued to earn him the admiration and support of residents. We are proud of his achievements and his determination to move Somolu to greater heights,” she said.
Hon. Bada further applauded the chairman’s efforts in empowering women, supporting vulnerable groups, enhancing educational opportunities, and providing infrastructure that directly impacts the lives of the people.
She assured residents that the administration remains committed to delivering more dividends of democracy and urged them to continue supporting government initiatives designed to foster development and social progress.
