In a renewed commitment to educational advancement and youth empowerment, the Somolu Local Government has announced a three-day free tutorial programme for candidates preparing for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The initiative, facilitated by the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Lateef Ashimi, is aimed at equipping students with the necessary academic support and guidance to excel in the forthcoming Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations.
According to the official update released by the council, the tutorial programme is scheduled to run from April 13th to April 15th, 2026, between the hours of 9:00 am and 1:00 pm daily. The venue for the exercise is Bashua Military Primary School, located on Onafowokan Street, off Morocco Road, Somolu, Lagos State.
The free coaching sessions are expected to attract a large number of candidates within Somolu and its environs, providing them with access to experienced tutors, structured lessons, and examination strategies tailored to boost performance.
Speaking on the initiative, the council leadership emphasised that the programme forms part of its broader agenda to invest in human capital development and ensure that young people in the community are not left behind in the pursuit of higher education.
Residents, parents, and guardians have been encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity by ensuring that eligible candidates participate fully in the exercise.
The programme underscores the administration’s commitment to the vision captured in its development mantra, #BuildingSomoluTogether and aligns with the state’s overarching agenda of #AGreaterLagosRising, which prioritises education as a key driver of sustainable growth.
