If, as tradition holds, the departed truly look back at the living, then the late Mrs Theresa Oladunni Talabi would undoubtedly be smiling with joy at the outpouring of love, tributes and heartfelt prayers offered in her memory during her 10th remembrance anniversary held recently in Lagos.
The solemn yet uplifting remembrance service drew family members, friends, associates and well-wishers who gathered to honour the life and legacy of the revered matriarch, whose impact continues to resonate a decade after her passing.
Speaking glowingly of the late Mrs Talabi, she described her as the “epitome of motherhood” and a rare gem whose love transcended the conventional boundaries of a mother-in-law.
“She was more than a mother-in-law to me. She embraced me as her own daughter from the very beginning. Her warmth, guidance and unwavering support shaped my life in countless ways. I was pampered with a depth of motherly love that many can only wish for”. Olufunke said.
According to her, the late matriarch was known for her kindness, patience and strong moral values. She was a pillar of unity within the family and a source of wisdom whose counsel was always sought and cherished.
Family members who also spoke at the event echoed similar sentiments, describing Mrs Theresa Talabi as a virtuous woman who lived a life of purpose and service. They recalled her generosity, her devotion to family, and her steadfast faith, which they said remained her guiding light until her last days.
The remembrance ceremony was marked by hymns, scripture readings and moments of reflection, creating an atmosphere of gratitude rather than grief. Many described it as a celebration of a life well spent.
Ten years on, the legacy of Mrs Theresa Oladunni Talabi lives on, not only in the memories of those she left behind but in the values she instilled and the love she freely gave.
As the gathering concluded, it was evident that though a decade has passed since her transition, her presence remains deeply felt, and her influence continues to guide generations within and beyond her immediate family.
