Hon. Sani Salau Ogembe (SSO) has formally declared his intention to contest on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 House of Representatives election, setting the stage for what political observers describe as an early but strategic move ahead of the general polls.
The aspirant, who made his declaration known to supporters and stakeholders across the constituency, said his decision was driven by a strong desire to offer purposeful representation and attract meaningful development to the people of Okene and Ogori-Magongo.
The Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency, located in Kogi State, has remained politically significant in the state’s power dynamics. With the 2027 general elections approaching, Ogembe’s entry into the race is expected to reshape alignments within party structures and grassroots political networks.
Speaking during consultations with community leaders and youth groups, Ogembe emphasised the need for inclusive representation that prioritises infrastructure, youth empowerment, education, healthcare delivery, and economic opportunities.
“Our people deserve vibrant and responsive representation at the Green Chamber. The time has come to deepen grassroots engagement and ensure that federal presence is truly felt in every ward of Okene and Ogori-Magongo”. He stated.
He further assured constituents that his campaign would be issue-based, focusing on practical solutions rather than political rhetoric. According to him, sustained engagement with traditional rulers, women’s groups, artisans, and professionals will form the cornerstone of his political strategy.
Political analysts note that the Okene/Ogori-Magongo seat in the House of Representatives is likely to attract keen interest from various aspirants across party lines, given the constituency’s voting strength and strategic importance in Kogi Central politics.
Supporters of Ogembe have described him as a grassroots politician with a track record of community service and accessibility.
The Youth leaders who spoke with The Political Times pledged their support, saying they are optimistic about a fresh wave of representation that prioritises their interests.
However, observers say the road to 2027 will require strong coalition-building, sustained grassroots mobilisation, and clear policy articulation as the political atmosphere gradually intensifies.
