Love Zone Gents holds Get-Together Party, distributes food palliatives to widows, elderly

Members of Love Zone Gents, popularly known as Marayesa Base, at the weekend held a colourful get-together party that also doubled as a humanitarian outreach, as food palliatives were distributed to widows and elderly residents within the community.

The event, which attracted members, friends and well-wishers, was organised to strengthen unity among members while giving back to the less privileged, particularly widows and senior citizens who are often faced with economic challenges.

Speaking at the gathering, one of the conveners of Love Zone Gents, Mr Olufemi Kayode, explained that the initiative was driven by compassion and the group’s belief in supporting vulnerable members of society. He noted that the outreach was aimed at putting smiles on the faces of beneficiaries and easing their burden, especially in the face of prevailing economic realities.

“Today, we’re giving back to the community where we grew up. Love Zone Gents comprises people who were born, bred and raised in the same Somolu community, and we feel that since this is our roots and we have those who have laid a good foundation for us, there’s a need for us to give back to them, and that is the reason we’re having this kind of gathering”.

“This is the inaugural one, we want to reach as many people as possible, but hopefully by next edition, the coast will be clear to achieve that”. He stated.

Food items distributed during the exercise included household items like rice and garri. Beneficiaries were also treated to a warm prayer session, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere.

Several widows and elderly recipients who spoke with Somolu Newspaper expressed deep appreciation to Love Zone Gents for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful. They prayed for the continued growth and success of the group, urging other community associations to emulate the initiative.

The get-together party featured social interactions, entertainment and discussions on future community-oriented projects, reinforcing the group’s commitment to unity, peace and social responsibility.

Love Zone Gents (Marayesa Base) reaffirmed its resolve to sustain similar humanitarian programmes, stressing that collective efforts and kindness remain key to building a caring and supportive community.
