End of the Year Party: Lagos Philanthropist, Abegunde serenades LASUTH Burns and Trauma Centre

In the spirit of the yuletide season and in a heartfelt display of compassion, Lagos-based businessman and philanthropist, Bishop Dr Emmanuel Abegunde, has brought cheer and renewed hope to healthcare workers at the Burns and Trauma Centre of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Gbagada, Lagos, through a special end-of-the-year celebration.

The colourful outreach, held within the hospital premises, was marked by music, prayers, gifts, and words of encouragement aimed at lifting the spirits of health workers.

Speaking during the visit, Bishop Dr Abegunde and the GrandPatron of the Centre described the initiative as a way of giving back to society and standing with those who had been taking care of the patients, especially during the festive season. He noted that while many people celebrate with loved ones at home, health workers in hospitals often experience loneliness and emotional strain.

“This season is about love, compassion, and sharing. Visiting the Burns and Trauma Centre is our little way of reminding these health workers that they are not alone, that society cares, and that God has not forgotten them”. He said.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Dr Afariogun, said the purpose of the gathering was not just to make merry alone but to remember their sacrifices to humanity and also improve the quality of healthcare delivery service to mankind, noting that health workers should not forget the reason why they are in the health sector.

“I will also wish to advise the youths to work hard to achieve their goals, where and when necessary. ‘Omo t’oba sise deede, O ye k’oni asiko igbadun’ literally means whoever works hard should have time to enjoy themselves, resonating with what we’re doing today”.

“We are happy that our Grandpatron is also here, and we appreciate all the necessary support we’re enjoying, as we pray to God to continue to bless and guide him in all his endeavours. He echoed.

Meanwhile, the philanthropist and his team awarded some of the Best Hands at the Centre with cash prizes in appreciation for their dedication and sacrifice, while he also distributed clothing items and other essential materials to healthcare workers.

Officials of LASUTH expressed deep gratitude to Bishop Dr Abegunde for the thoughtful gesture, describing it as timely and impactful. They commended his consistent support for humanitarian causes and his recognition of the emotional and physical demands faced by both patients and medical personnel.

Some beneficiaries of the outreach could not hide their joy, as they offered prayers and words of thanks to the philanthropist, noting that the event had brought them comfort, smiles, and renewed strength.
