Ashimi marks 100 days in office with major road renewal drive in Somolu

To commemorate his first 100 days in office, the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, has unveiled a new wave of infrastructure projects designed to upgrade road networks and improve transportation links within the Ward F Community.

During a field inspection tour of the FAM Community Development Area (CDA), Hon. Ashimi announced the commencement of road reconstruction works in response to persistent calls from residents for better access routes. He was accompanied by Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Ojomu, Chief of Staff, Prince Sodiq Adeeso, CDA Chairman, Mr. Samuel Tanimola, and other top council officials.

The inspection team visited several key roads slated for rehabilitation, including Fakunle (lower section)—which connects Fatai Kadri, Assembly Close, and Modupe Close—as well as Church Street, linking Oluwadare and Bajulaiye Road. Following the assessment, Hon. Ashimi directed council engineers to begin reconstruction without delay.

Reiterating his administration’s vision for inclusive and sustainable development, Hon. Ashimi emphasized that improved road infrastructure will significantly enhance mobility and stimulate local economic growth.

“Our goal is to make Somolu a benchmark for urban renewal and community progress,” he said.

The announcement drew enthusiastic reactions from residents and community stakeholders, who hailed the initiative as both timely and impactful. Pastor Ademola Adefalujo Olisa, Somolu APC Apex Leader, praised the Chairman for translating his campaign promises into action.

“Chairman Ashimi’s hands-on approach reflects true leadership. The road projects will not only ease traffic but also revitalize business activities within the FAM CDA,” he noted.

This infrastructure rollout joins a growing list of ongoing development projects under the Ashimi administration, further demonstrating its commitment to long-term community advancement. The council urged residents to exercise patience during the reconstruction phase, assuring them that palliative measures would be introduced to minimize inconvenience.

As Hon. Ashimi celebrates his 100th day in office, his administration’s proactive push for infrastructure renewal continues to shape Somolu’s transformation story—laying a strong foundation for sustained grassroots development.
