Community extols Somolu LG chairman-elect, Ashimi for sinking borehole

Hon. Lateef Ashimi

Hon. Lateef Ashimi, the Chairman-elect of Somolu Local Government, has continued to earn the admiration of residents following his donation of a functional borehole to Onaolapo Community Development Association (CDA) on Adebiyi Street. This thoughtful gesture has brought great relief to the people, solving a critical water challenge and reflecting his commitment to responsive leadership.

The project unveiling attracted notable figures including Chief Shina Olunuga and Alhaji Saka Adedoyin, who both praised Ashimi for his visionary spirit. According to them, such proactive acts of service set a new standard in community engagement and demonstrate the kind of leadership Somolu deserves.

CDA Chairman, Mr. Olukayode Sangode, described the borehole as more than a gift—it is a legacy of compassion and accountability. He emphasized the community’s gratitude and urged other leaders to emulate Ashimi’s example in prioritizing people’s needs.

Ashimi, who currently serves as Chief Whip of the Somolu Legislative Council, pledged to remain people-focused in all decisions. He assured residents that more life-enhancing projects will be delivered under his leadership.

With 34,202 votes secured in last Saturday’s APC local government elections, Ashimi has promised to build on the achievements of outgoing Chairman Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar’, recently recognized by the Presidency for multiple landmark projects.
