The Lagos State Association of Roller Sports (LARSA) has formally appointed Hon. Adebanji Adeoye Atewogboye, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Grassroots Sports Development, as its Board Secretary.
The appointment, which took place on Sunday, July 7, underscores the association’s commitment to deepening its relationship with government institutions and strengthening its administrative structure for enhanced grassroots sports development.
The official letter of appointment was presented to Hon. Atewogboye by the Chairman of LARSA, Mr. Philip Oyede, alongside other top-ranking members of the association, during a brief but significant visit to the SSA’s office in Lagos.
While presenting the letter, Mr. Oyede commended Hon. Atewogboye for his consistent passion for grassroots engagement and his impactful contributions to the development of youth sports in Lagos State. He described the appointment as a strategic move to tap into his wealth of experience in grassroots sports administration and government relations.
“We are confident that having someone of Hon. Atewogboye’s caliber and dedication on our board will add immense value to our operations and bring about more robust initiatives aimed at nurturing young talents across the state,” Mr. Oyede remarked.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Atewogboye expressed his appreciation to the association for the honour bestowed upon him and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to supporting grassroots sports development in Lagos and beyond.
“This appointment is a call to greater service. I believe strongly in the role sports play in shaping character, uniting communities, and providing opportunities for our youth. I will work closely with the LARSA team to promote roller sports as a viable platform for youth engagement and development,” he stated.
The Lagos State Association of Roller Sports has continued to make significant strides in promoting skating and other roller-related sporting activities across schools and communities. The latest appointment signals a new era of strategic collaboration between the association and the Lagos State Government in driving forward the vision of inclusive and sustainable sports development.
