As the momentum for the upcoming July 12 local government elections gathers pace, the campaign committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Somolu Local Government has officially presented its chairmanship flag bearer, Hon. AbdulLateef Ashimi, to the market men and women within the council area.
The event underscored the grassroots engagement strategy of the campaign, aiming to solidify support among one of the most influential economic blocs in the community, the market traders not leaving out the farmers
According to Hon. Willy (Oosha), Ashimi’s candidacy is a reflection of the APC’s commitment to continuity, stability, and inclusive development across Somolu.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Ashimi expressed gratitude for the warm reception and promised to prioritize the welfare of traders if elected. He outlined his plans to modernize local markets, enhance security, and ensure a conducive business environment for all.
Also present at the event was the APC’s Vice Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Taiwo Ojomu, who urged the traders to vote massively for the party to ensure continuity in development and empower a new generation of leaders committed to serving the people.
Representatives of various market associations also took turns to pledge their support for the APC candidate, citing the achievements of the current administration under Executive Chairman Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu, popularly known as Dullar, as a strong reason to continue with the party’s leadership.
With the clock ticking toward July 12, Hon. Ashimi’s introduction to key community stakeholders like the marketmen and women signals a deliberate effort by the APC to maintain its foothold in Somolu’s local politics.
