The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ on Thursday 21st March 2024 extended a helping hand to the 1000 Somolu indigents who stormed the old Secretariat in several thousands to enjoy the dividends of democracy with each beneficiary going home with the sum of N20,000.00 each.
The Agba-Akin of Agboyi Kingdom in his opening speech revealed that the gesture became necessary to alleviate the suffering of the people of Somolu amidst the economic hardship that plagued the nation as a result of the subsidy removal.
“Furthermore, I would like to acknowledge the unwavering support of our governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in ensuring that Lagosians receive the dividends of Democracy. His dedication to improving the lives of residents is highly commendable and we are grateful for his leadership”.
“I’m delighted to report that the new Somolu Local Government Administration Complex is nearing completion along with other supporting structures such as the Somolu Legislature Complex, Bashua Police Station, and the much-awaited Somolu Fire Service Station”.
In his closing remarks, he commended the Comrade Isiak Buna-led Committee from the Human Rights Monitor Agenda for their diligent efforts in organizing this initiative stressing that their dedication to identifying genuine recipients and ensuring the transparent distribution of this palliative is commendable urging them to continue this noble work, knowing that the community’s welfare is paramount.
