Lagos council chief lavishes N20millions on 1000 indigents to ease economic hardship

The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ on Thursday 21^st March 2024 extended a helping hand to the 1000 Somolu indigents who stormed the old Secretariat in several thousands to enjoy the dividends of democracy with each beneficiary going home with the sum of N20,000.00 each.

The Agba-Akin of Agboyi Kingdom in his opening speech revealed that the gesture became necessary to alleviate the suffering of the people of Somolu amidst the economic hardship that plagued the nation as a result of the subsidy removal.

He continued, “In these challenging times, it is imperative that we come together as a community to support one another. I urge patience and steadfastness as we navigate the challenges facing the nation. Let us support our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he leads us towards prosperity”.

“Furthermore, I would like to acknowledge the unwavering support of our governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in ensuring that Lagosians receive the dividends of Democracy. His dedication to improving the lives of residents is highly commendable and we are grateful for his leadership”.

Mr. Koseleri as he is fondly called by his people also used the opportunity to announce the discounted food market initiative located at Agunbiade Pry School which he said will commence on Sunday adding that the N20,000 cash palliative provided should be used to purchase food items at a 25% discount. At the same time, he thanked the efforts of Mr. Governor and his team.

Hon. Dullar further said that while cash palliatives are essential, public infrastructure is also vital stating that his administration is committed to completing and initiating various road projects with drainage systems to enhance business activities and alleviate flooding in Somolu LG.

“I’m delighted to report that the new Somolu Local Government Administration Complex is nearing completion along with other supporting structures such as the Somolu Legislature Complex, Bashua Police Station, and the much-awaited Somolu Fire Service Station”.

“This development will significantly benefit the residents of Somolu. To the people of Ijebutedo, the construction of the new and expanded Wright Memorial Pry School Healthcare Centre is progressing rapidly, providing improved healthcare services to our community. To the residents of Fadeyi, we appreciate your cooperation with the ongoing road construction projects on Isaac John, Kalejaiye, and Oyebajo”.

In his closing remarks, he commended the Comrade Isiak Buna-led Committee from the Human Rights Monitor Agenda for their diligent efforts in organizing this initiative stressing that their dedication to identifying genuine recipients and ensuring the transparent distribution of this palliative is commendable urging them to continue this noble work, knowing that the community’s welfare is paramount.
