The Majority Leader & the Chairman of the House Committee on Agric Youth and Social Services, Hon. Abdul-Lateef Muibi, sought approval from the House to meet with the CDC Executives, as regards the community affairs, and the request was granted.
During the session, the Clerk of the House, Mrs. Tanwa Olusi, read the received letter from the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Somolu Local Branch, requesting to attend the next plenary session. Hon. Adegbite Omololarin supported this idea, and the House approved the presence of six representatives from the Youth body, stipulated for Monday, 16th, October 2023.
Also, the Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Tunde James emphasized the need to revisit the sites of the ongoing Community projects and prompt completion of all abandoned road projects by the State Government, then requested a crucial meeting with Hon. Abiodun Orekoya, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Somolu Constituency 1.
Furthermore, the Chief Whip Hon. Lateef Ashimi suggested the notification of the Environmental Department to address issues caused by street traders and to be followed up with a letter to end the uncultured acts.
Afterward, Hon. Adegbite Folarin apprised the House to meet with Security personnel and expressed his opinion on Bolaji Omupo’s flood situation, then proposed the House inform the Environmental Department to take necessary actions.
In response, Council Leader Hon. Yomi Osunkoya assured that all occurring challenges will be addressed, and proposed that the Lawmakers compile a list of flood-affected streets for follow-ups with the Environmental Department.
Also, the House emphasized the importance of synergy with the Youth body for the growth of the Somolu Community.
Away from the Council, the Chairman of the House Committee on Works, Hon. Tunde James led Others to perform oversight functions at Olaleye market during the noon hours of the day.
In their discussion with the recipient in charge, Mrs. Oloye Ashabi, she said for the first phase, there will be 58 lockup shops, 36 Kin claps, chicken shifts & meat slaughtering shops, and she further assured the immediate commencement of the second phase will meet the requirement date and time scheduled.
In reaction to the aforesaid, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, commended the level of construction done and asked the Engineer in charge about her plans to make the shops more accessible in time of prices, so as to ease the burden of the traders, and this opinion was supported by Hon. Adegbite Folarin and Hon. Tunde James.
The Council Engineer, Engr. Solomon Olabode, commended the Engineer-in-charge for the level of work done so far, as he set to advise the Council Leadership to purchase part of the shops to make available later at discount rates, especially for traders within the axis. Notable people on the tour were Iya Oja and Baba Oja of Olayele Market.
