No fewer than 200 indigents of Somolu have benefitted from Hon. Bowale Sosimi’s poverty alleviation initiative held at the extreme end of Awoseyin Street on Friday 22nd September 2023 in Somolu local government area of the state which saw widows, youth, artisans, People living with disabilities (PLWD’s) smiling home happily after.

Speaking shortly after the event, the former Vice-Chairman of Somolu local government and currently the Commissioner 4, Lagos State Local Government Commission hinted that the initiative became necessary to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal that brought about a hash economic condition which has made life more unbearable to many indigents in the community.

He narrated further that he sees the Palliative initiative as a way of giving back to the community which he believes will go a long way in making a positive impact in the lives of the beneficiaries and rekindling the hope for a better community, state, and Nigeria at large.

“Although, this is just a token to keep the heart and soul together with the belief that it will make a positive impact in the lives of the beneficiaries. I feel the pain and agony some of them are going through. Some cannot even afford three square meals due to the fuel subsidy removal and with this financial token offered, it’ll make it possible for them to start a small business of their own to make ends meet”.

“And let me also remind you that this is not going to be a one-off thing but rather something that’ll be coming up on a quarterly basis. We’ve done it here today, we’re taking it to other wards for others to benefit as well. It’s a continuous exercise that’ll put soccour on the faces of people and I will continue to put resources together to enable me to fulfill my promise to my people God’s willing”. He posited.

In her response, one of the beneficiaries of the N20,000 financial palliative, Mrs. Margret Ibiwunmi heaped praises on Hon. Bowale Sosimi for deeming it a feat to put a smile on the faces of the needy describing him as a man with a larger heart while she prayed to God in His infinite mercy to continue to guide and bless him in all ramification.

Guests present at the presentation of the N20,000.00 financial palliative include top All Progressive Congress (APC) political stalwarts, religious and community leaders, NGO Executives, and top Somolu youth leaders.

Meanwhile, Hon. Bowale has called on the elites in the community to contribute their quota in their own little way in order to make life more meaningful to the indigents which he said will go a long way in changing the narrative for the betterment of the community and state at large.
