As part of his pledges to leave a befitting infrastructural legacy in his domain, the Executive Chairman of the Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ is set to deliver rehabilitated Petit Idaho Street earlier riddled with potholes to further make the street more accessible for both pedestrians and vehicular movement.
The multiple Award winning Council Chairman and the Agba-Akin of Agboyi Kingdom in his statement said that if the saying that ‘To whom much is given, much is expected’ is anything to go by, then, he’d always appreciate his people for standing by him during the electioneering period, hence, deserved to be compensated for their efforts.
He further reiterated his commitment toward ensuring that his people continue to enjoy the dividend of democracy when and where necessary till the last minute in office.
“To whom much is given, much is expected, I made promises during my election that I would give a dividend of democracy to my people and that’s exactly what I’m doing now to redeem my pledge. I want to honourably thank the people of Ward B and the Somolu community at large for their unflinching support. I know without your votes I wouldn’t have won the election for my second term in office. I sincerely thank you”. He stated.
Meanwhile, one of the residents who spoke to Somolu News, Mr. Bamidele Samuel described the gesture as a welcome development noting that the people of Petit Idaho can now heave a sigh of relief having suffered untold hardship as a result of potholes and heavy dust that had ironically painted each house on the street that might have as well posed as a serious health challenge to many.
“To be honest with you, before now, we’ve gone through a lot to the extent that human movement and vehicular became unbearable. Some of us sometimes had to manage a section of the street to make our entry and exit which had been a heartache for us. And now that the street is in good shape, we wish to say a very big thank you to the Chairman of Somolu LG, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ for this wonderful gesture”.
Responding to the Council Chairman’s gesture, a shop owner, and resident, Mrs. Modinat Bolaji described the council chief as a political leader with a ‘golden heart’ who has the interest of his people at heart noting that she was not surprised that he (Dullar) was following his rainbow by redeeming his pledge to the people and the community.
“Sincerely, I’ve not met this man called ‘Dullar’ but I can testify to his stewardship in the last couple of years as a council chairman. He has indeed proved himself as a great leader and has his name written in the anal of history”. She concluded.
Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ has rehabilitated over 40 streets while 9 others are under construction.
