The Special Adviser to the Somolu local government on Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Hon. Maryam Owolabi-Bada has condemned in totality the brutal attack on Event and Planning Entrepreneur, Mrs. Vera Ayoade who was stabbed 7 times on Monday 24th October 2022 while she was on her way to her office by an assailant around Oredola Street, Bariga, Lagos.
Speaking to Somolu News online recently, Hon. Bada described the alleged attack on the innocent business entrepreneur as barbaric, inhumane, and condemnable stating that such a heinous act should not be treated with a kid’s glove as the culprit should be made to face the music which will serve as a deterrent to others who might want repeat same.
She went further, “Whoever perpetrated such heinous and barbaric act should not be allowed to live in the community. Any attempt let it go is as dangerous as sleeping on a time bomb.”
“He doesn’t belong to a society where sane minds live and as matter of fact, he should be taken to the psychiatric hospital for a check-up because I don’t see the reason why a woman for that matter should be treated this way. He must be arrested, tried, and face the full wrath of the law if found culpable.” She lamented.
In the same vein, the Baale of Owode/Ajose Community in the Bariga area of the state, High Chief Olusegun Aromire Ajose also condemned the alleged attack as unlawful noting that such an act if care is not taken, will put fear in the heart of the women in the community who go about their normal businesses.
He said, “It’s sad and disheartening that such cruel act could be meted out on fellow human beings in a civilized society of ours. The perpetrator of such heinous act should be dealt with according to the law.”
The traditional chief, however, called on the general public to be cautious of their surroundings and inform the police about any strange things in the community stating that all hands must be on deck to ensure the community is free of crime in order to live in peace of mind without any hassle.
