The Executive Chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ has appointed the former Lagos House of Assembly aspirant and a staunch member of Somolu All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon. Mrs. Maryam Owolabi-Bada as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Women Affairs on Poverty Alleviation (WAPA).
The appointment was announced a few weeks ago by the Chairman, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Oseni Owolabi Ajimomuya, congratulated her on her new appointment and urged her to be up and doing in her new role.
Mrs. Bada before her new position served as the Personal Assistant (PA) to the Chairperson of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Mrs Mariam Omotanwa Salau. She also served as the Vice-Chairman of Zone III, Ward E, Somolu local government. A top member of Iyadunni; a Socio-Political organization under the auspice of former Civilian Governor of Lagos State, late Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande.
The teacher cum politician is a member of Asiwaju Frontliners, Co-coordinator; Mandate Women Loyal Wing for Asiwaju, member; Women for Equity and Fairness Organization of Nigeria (WEFON), and Ward E Coordinator; Dullar Continua Initiative, the group which was instrumental to the re-election of the incumbent Executive Chairman, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar for the second term in office.
As a community leader, Hon. Bada was a Supervisor for Polio-Eradication Programme sponsored by World Bank in conjunction with the Lagos State government between 2014-2017. She was also the Community Oriented Resource Person (CORP) for Stop the Diarrhoea Initiative Project (Save the Children) with the support of Reckitt Benckiser and the Lagos State Government from 2015-2018.
Hon. Mrs. Maryam Owolabi-Bada, a graduate of Accounting from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State is a supremely motivated grassroots political leader and mobilizer with a strong vision, enthusiasm, dedication, determination, and courage coupled with an unquenchable thirst to achieve a successful result when and where necessary.
The self-motivated and hardworking Mrs. Bada attended various seminars/workshops and professional courses which include a Diploma in Marketing from Lagos State Institute of Management and Technical Studies, Computer Programme on Proficiency in Desktop, Microsoft Word and Excel, Workshop on Manpower Development and Human Resources Management by Educational Consult and Research Centre, Lagos.
Other workshops and seminars attended are Youths as Catalyst for Nation-Building by the National Youth Council of Nigeria, workshop on Strategic Session on Running for Political Office in Nigeria for female political aspirants organized by Nigeria Women in Politics, and sponsored by UKAID with many honourary awards to her credit.
Bada is an accomplished Catering and Event Management expert with a strong track record of more than 20 years in the sector.
