Grassroots development in Somolu got a major boost a few days when the Council Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, presented a whopping N5,023,498,047:02k to the leader of the legislative council, Hon. Yomi Osunkoya.
In his address at the chambers while presenting the budget titled “Budget for Rejuvenation and Sustainable Development”, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu stated that Primary Healthcare, Agriculture, Community Service, Environmental Services, Works and Housing, Education; Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation are some of the areas the Year 2022 Budget have cogently taken cognizance of.
He also thanked Governor of Lagos State for the proposed new General Hospital in Somolu, “At this juncture, I want to show our greatest appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Olusola Babajide Sanwo-Olu for our share of a proposed new General Hospital, which will be built soonest to cater for our health service delivery”.
Somolu Local Government Area, a commercial oriented community with highest concentration of professional printers in West Africa, had a budget of N3. 45 billion in 2021.
Notable at the budget presentation includes the Vice Chairman of the council; Hon. Adekunle Ekiyemi, the former Sole Administratior, Somolu LG; Hon. Williams Lawanson, the Chairperson of Somolu LG; Hon. Mariam Salawu, the Chief of Staff; Hon. Afolarin Olubiyi, the Special Adviser on Special Duties; Hon. Ayodele Afolabi , SA & SSAs; Apex Men & Women Leaders, other Stakeholders and erstwhile lawmakers as key observers were felt during the proceedings.
However, the Council Chairman earlier made a brisk inspection on the roads and drainage systems construction going-on on Tola Oduntan street, Asubiaro Drive and Vincent Street, where he eulogized the residents for their cooperation with the construction workers.
Alongside his entourage, the Chairman also visited the proposed site for the new Somolu Local Government Secretariat, adjacent the Dr Ibijoke Sanwoolu Primary Health Centre, another spectacular edifice he reconstructed and handed over to the Health Officers in the UNA Complex/Oluwadare street.
With the recent developments going on across the community, it is convenient to bask in the euphoria of the good governance we are witnessing in this 21st century, all thanks to the brilliance, competence and diligence of the Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu led administration who made all these his priority.
