The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu has joined other Council Chairmen in Lagos East to endorse the ruling All Progressives Congress frontline aspirant, Tokunbo Abiru.
Abiru, a former Commissioner for Finance in Lagos resigned last week as the Managing Director of Polaris Bank to contest the post of Senator representing Lagos East in the October 31 bye-election as a result of the demise of Senator Adebayo Osinowo who died on June 15, 2020.
While making his endorsement statement of Mr Tokunbo Abiru, the Mayor of Somolu was with Hon. Rotimi Olowo of Lagos State House of Assembly (Somolu 1) and the APC Chairman in Somolu, Pastor Femi Taiwo with his counterparts from other 15 councils. The Mayor said the wealth of experience gathered by the Ikorodu born Senator aspirant is priceless.
Alongside other Council Chairmen, the ALGON President, Hon. Kolade Alabi who also read his endorsement speech. Lagos East consists of 16 councils (5 Local Government Areas and 11 Local Council Development Areas) including Somolu LG, Bariga LCDA, Kosofe LG, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Ikorodu LG, Ikorodu West LCDA, Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Ijede LCDA, Ikorodu North LCDA, Imota LCDA, Epe LG, Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA, Eredo LCDA, Ibeju-Lekki LG and Lekki LCDA. Lagos State House of Assembly members from Lagos East was also at the State Secretariat of the party for the endorsement.
Recalled that apart from Mr Adetokunbo Mukhail Abiru, Lagos East has not witnessed any other aspirant purchase the APC Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for Senatorial seat bye-election which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had slated for Saturday, October 31, 2020.
However, Hon. Seye Oladejo (PRO, APC Lagos State) had said the party is yet to have a candidate for the Lagos East Senatorial seat as the primary election of the party will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020.
