The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, received another award to commend his good work of governance at the grassroots level.
The Outstanding Dignitaries Achievement Awards (ODAA) was part of the Orente Beauty Pageant held at the prestigious Oriental Hotels in Lagos. The Mayor of Somolu was honoured alongside eight other dignitaries at the well-attended event.
While veteran Yoruba artistes, Rev. Dr Idowu Philips (Iya Rainbow) and Mrs Keji Yusuf were awarded for their efforts and persistence in Nollywood, Alhaji Musiliu Haruna Ishola was awarded for his role in the modernization of Apala music. An athlete, Omoyele Michael Damilola was honoured in the sports category. The event was packaged by Rollicking Entertainment Company.
The Mayor of Somolu was the only politician that was honoured amongst a resounding ovation of many artistes, athletes, entrepreneurs and socialites who was there to honour the awardees and 27 beauty contestants. Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu was represented by his friend, Prince Ibrahim Kehinde Ladega who received the award as presented by Olori of Alaafin Oyo.
While attending to pressmen on the secret of his numerous awards, the soft speaking council Mayor said he was just busy developing Somolu as a community. “I only keep developing my community, empowering people and feeding the elderly people. So, the people of Somolu deserves this award because they chose me to serve them”, Dullar said.
