Somolu LG Mayor ‘Dullar’ frowns at environmental defaulters

… vow to sustain environmental laws

The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, does not smile when it comes to issues of the environment as the Mayor of the largest printers’ community in West Africa.

Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu said people’s approach to the environment reflects the kind of people they are. “What we are doing to the forest of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another, therefore conservation and preservation of our environment should be of paramount issues to us all”, the Chairman analyzed.

The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government made this known at the Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting hosted by the Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Somolu Constituency 1, Hon. Olowo Rotimi Emmanuel. The well-attended Stakeholders’ meeting themed “Environmental. Challenges: Community Engagement to facilitate lasting solution” was held at the Banquet Hall of Somolu Local Government Secretariat. The meeting was held simultaneously in the 40 constituencies of Lagos State.

Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu emphasized the unrelenting efforts of his government in ensuring the cleanliness of the environment as PSP operators cart away refuse from every nook and cranny within the residence and offices in Somolu on a weekly basis. “This administration has been prompt in carting away refuse within all neighbourhood and ensuring clean drainage for the safety of individuals and properties from the flood”, Dullar said.

However, the Mayor commended the efforts of the veteran legislator, Hon. Olowo Rotimi, “I must commend our honourable, who has been the mouthpiece of this constituency and always working for the betterment of his people, kudos to you Sir”, Dullar said.

Moreover, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu said the people of Somolu should bear in mind that there is environmental by-laws in Somolu Local Government, “bear this in mind, our administration has enacted By-Laws to protect our environment and promote healthy living”, the Mayor asserted.
