Somolu Councillors frown at the dilapidated status of major roads, seek state government intervention

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu

The Members of Somolu Legislative Council has called on the Lagos State government to help in fixing the dilapidated Market street road, Oguntolu road, Aduroshakin/Fakorede road, Bajuilaye road among other roads across the community which has become an eyesore to the road users and residents of the area.

The Councillors made this passionate appeal last Thursday during the plenary session at the council chamber. While stating the importance of the road, the Leader of the House, Hon. Yomi Osunkoya recounted the hard times’ motorists and commuters are going through due to the deplorable condition of the roads.

The Lawmakers, while acknowledging the roads as that of the State, thanked the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul-Hamed Salawu for his conscious effort in revamping the face of Somolu roads. They equally implored the executive chairman and other respected elective officers within the local government to use their powers expeditiously by engaging the relevant State authorities so that palliative measures that will improve the condition of the roads bring to bear. They furthered reiterated that the legislature would continue to support the executive chairman to ensure good governance in Somolu LG.
